When I bought the electric pole saw a few months back, it was contained in a cardboard box that was like 10" x 10" x 10 feet long.

The first thing my cat did upon seeing that big long box was to crawl into it and keep going till he reached the other side. I'm not sure what it is about an open ended box that cats like so much.

You mentioned psychological help and, coincidentally, I've been thinking that I don't provide my cat with enough mental stimulation. That's also important for a cat's health, especially in the senior years.

EndWar is an RTS and Gears of War 2 is a TPS. While FallOut 3 looks and acts like an FPS, the combat is not "twitch based" but is actually real-time RPG-based so it's not a true FPS. You can even freeze the game during combat, specificy body parts to aim at etc...

Yeah, I'm nitpicking. They're basically a shooter of some kind. :-P Warhammer: Online is the only game I'm playing right now where I'm swinging a big metal weapon of some sort.

Why wait for the new colours? ;-) Not too many "must play" titles on the PS3 for me to warrant purchasing one right now. The Sony bandwagon has to pick up the pace before I hop on it.

I liked Little Big Planet when I had first seen it. Too cute for words!

I'm waiting for new colors for the PS3 so I can get it and Little Big Planet. The only title that I find interesting.

The interface looks haphazard partly because I hadn't cleaned it up or properly configured some third party add-on lay-out options. I'm in the process of evaluating the usefulness of some third party add-ons so I have a lot more stuff on the UI than normal.

In addition, there's the buff icon bug that Mythic still hasn't fixed yet. I.e. bonus/penalty icons that don't obey their visibility status when third party add-ons are installed, so they appear in two locations on screen simultaneously.

Yet I managed to play through it all despite that. :-P I really do have to sit down and clean everything up. All these extra real-time information displays are probably lagging the interface somewhat.

The 3D assets and graphics are lightweight for load reasons but I think they're still pretty decent for an MMO.

I didn't expect to get full throughput on the drives but what surprised me was how poor the actual throughput really is. There is no master/slave set-up when it comes to SATA. Each drive gets its own channel. That's what makes the slow drive-to-drive copying even more surprising.

The reason for putting one of the backups on the same drive is to quickly solve the problem I've more commonly faced, and that is where the Windows installation gets screwed up but the drive is in perfect working order. Typically it's not prudent to put backups on the same drive that's being backed up, but this is for quick and convenient restoration that doesn't rely on BIOS detecting additional drives. This isn't going to be solely relied upon in cases of real emergency however. I'm still going to maintain current off-source-drive as well as an off-system back-up.

I've revised my partitioning strategy yet again... blog update coming up.

You won't get full throughput on drives. Plus if they are on the same channel they are sharing the bandwidth. So half of the slower drive may be the limitation when copying from one drive to the other.

On a clean install, most system files will be close to the hub. I don't think you'll find much improvement with the partitioning. Just my feeling.

Backup should be on a separate drive because if the drive fails, what good is the backup if it's on the same drive.

IMO, partitions are a pain. When you get to the point where you need something to be on a particular partition and there isn't enough space, you are hooped. Why set yourself up for failure that way. You'll be re-installing the system again when that happens. Keep it simple. You won't notice the differences.

Yeah, totally hate re-installing the OS. I have a long list of applications, both large and small, that I use and collecting everything together (installation files, licenses etc) for one big re-installation session is a pain in the ass.

My email proxy set-up is also complex since I have to get Spambayes, email anti-virus and Web-mail-to-POP3 clients to play nicely together. Getting it to work correctly the first time was difficult enough. Not looking forward to doing it again. :-P

I wouldn't really need the terabyte drive if it wasn't for anime, and the storage space gobbling 3D assets for Poser and Daz Studio. Additionally, working with uncompressed video for my animation activities requires vast amounts of drive space too.

I just have to keep reminding myself that it's short term pain, for long term gain. Better hard drive arrangement and the extra storage should help with performance and productivity.

I'll just make sure to invest in some drive imaging software so I can create a drive image of the "clean" set-up to make recovery less of a chore.

Tereabyte drive... That would be nice...

I hate reinstalling the OS. Not really for the reinstall but for the multi-gigabyte downloads of service packs. What a pain.

Sure. I'll send what I come across. My Witch Hunter is the scavenger and I haven't taken her out for a run in a while since I've been trying to bring the rest of the "team" up to speed.

Geez, Salvage/Talisman crafting is a BITCH to level. I got up to Talisman 31 with my R16 Warrior Priest but I can't go any further until I get more salvageable items.

It seems that NPCs tend to drop more Cultivation and Apothecary items than salvageable items for Talisman crafting so I have to farm/kill a whole lot more just to get a few decent drops. But I suppose that balances out since most properly made talismans last forever compared to potions.

I have a bunch of 2-day and 8-hour talismans left over from craft leveling, covering everything from strength to weapon skill. They sell for 1 brass so it's a waste to sell/junk them. Let me know if you need a temporary boost for some of your equipment so at least they'll actually get used. :-)

Sure, I can send you some seed 25s. I seem to be getting seeds in the 50s and 70s as of late though. I think my R10 Shadow Warrior may still be getting more frequent seed 25 drops.
