After being the victim of so many snare spells/abilities, I finally get one of my own!

Often times, when I’m forced to flee, an opposing player (usually a tank) hits me with a snare spell/ability which slows or stops my character’s movement completely and leaves me vulnerable to attack.  This almost ways results in my death.

Now, I finally get a snare ability of my own with my Bright Wizard called "Fire Cage"!  Unfortunately, it means allowing attackers to get within 30 feet of my character so it’s not foolproof and you could still die.  But I’ll take what I can get.

I have used it to save the lives of my comrades though!

Basically what the Fire Cage does is stop all movement of opponents within 30 feet of the caster for 10 seconds. This is great for immobilizing mobs when you’re surrounded, thus allowing you (if you’re quick/lucky) to make an escape.

I’ve used it to immobilize tanks who are mobbing or chasing down a teammate.  I’d rush in, get close, then fire it off.  If the player I’m trying to save is alert and figures out what’s happening, he or she will turn around and run while there’s time.

While the mob is frozen, I try and cast DotTS (Damage Over Time Spells) on them while I have the chance.   DoTS don’t count against the "50% chance to break free when they suffer damage" characteristic of Fire Cage so you can immobilize, do damage and run all in one go if you’re quick enough.

During a session last night, I’ve saved teammates on four separate occasions in this manner and made good escapes from tanks at least twice.

It’s not perfect, but it is still incredibly useful and does increase your Bright Wizard’s survivability if timed correctly.
