I tried downloading some torrents last night to see if Bell’s shitty traffic shaping policy has taken effect and it appears to have reached my neck of the woods. (wTwNjzVFVU)
I tried downloading OpenOffice and one or two anime torrents at around 9pm last night and the connection reached a plateau of about 28 k/sec, where it stayed for a while before increasing to no more than 60-65 k/sec.
I killed the OpenOffice torrent and kept one of the anime torrents that had 1962 seeds and 619 peers. Transfer speeds hit a ceiling of about 40 k/second and wavered between 25-30 k/second.
Looks like it’s time to sign up for Acanac’s Online PC VPS system.
EDIT Apr-13-08: Read my updated article concerning Acanac.
