Not long after I got the Touch, it was used exactly what I had intended it for: taking the pain out of the waiting game.

I had dropped my mom off at church for the Easter mass but what I had forgotten was that this mass is twice the length of a standard mass.  I was an hour early when I had returned to pick her up.

Instead of wasting gas driving back home and then returning, I whipped out the iPod and watched a couple of episodes of  Claymore and Dragonaut, some anime series I had been following that I had fallen way behind on.

The iPod’s screen is nice and bright; so bright that it illuminated the car’s dark cabin with an eerie glow, up-lighting me and probably giving me a ghostly appearance to the few passersby in the area who happened to be looking in my direction.

The cold was a minor annoyance (didn’t want to pollute and idle the engine) but I didn’t feel the time go by.  If I had a regular MP3 player, I doubt it would have been as effective in killing time as the iPod Touch.

WiFi

While I was out there, of course I had to see whether there were other wireless networks in the area.

The Touch was able to detect the church’s WiFi network from the street and another private network called "Home".  There were probably more out there but set to Invisible status.

At home, I’m able to detect one network called "PLUMRITE" and another one aptly called "wireless".

This WiFi stuff is neat. :)  Might have to get the wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 and eliminate yet another long cable.
