What I’m not clear on, is this movie based off some book? I can’t say I’ve ever heard of it before now.
It’s based on the series of books written by Philip Pullman, published in 1997.
I haven’t heard of either the book or the movie myself until a Second Lifer I know mentioned it a few days ago. My sister has the series but hasn’t gotten through it yet. She said that it “didn’t grab her” like Potter did but it must be good enough to earn a big budget movie adaptation.
Your last sentence made me laugh a bit.
