Stan Bush and Why Am I NOT Excited About the Transformers Live Action Movie?
Posted by Nuke in Animation, MediaStan Bush did some vocal tracks for the Transformers: The Movie animated film that was released back in the '80s. He did the song Dare and You've Got The Touch that played during the pivotal fight scene between Optimus Prime and Megatron at Autobot City
I just happened upon Stan Bush's MySpace page:
I loved Transformers when I was a kid, but for some reason, I'm surprisingly not excited about this live action Transformers movie at all.
I'm not usually the kind of movie fan that rejects a movie outright if a live action adaptation doesn't follow the original work closely. I know this re-invention is driving some Transformer fans nuts, and not in a good way. This movie looks to be action filled with plenty of visual effects and it has mecha! The first Western major motion picture to feature mecha! I can see no reason for my ambivalence towards this film.
Maybe it's because I didn't exactly enjoy any of the Transformers series that came after what fans call "G1" (Generation 1) or first season?
At any rate, they're going to get my movie dollar in the end. How can I call myself a comic/anime/sci-fi/fantasy fan and not see this movie? They'd take away my geek license! ;-D

I think I’ll wait for a review or two. As for the new designs, I don’t mind so much. It would be silly to use the origianl ones from G1. Megatron a big ass Walter P32 pistal? Yeah, no. They may have looked alright as a cartoon but probably look really odd in a live action. Thankfully they went with the G1 instead of the two incarnations.
Beast wars and the newer transformers. Blah. Optimus is still annoyingly high and mighty and a lot of the other characters are so thin skinned and arrogant. How can you like any of them. Plus the new series with the cell and CG is so poorly done that it looks like they just mashed the two together. It’s not integrated, it’s like watching two different shows because the styles are starkly different. Plus talk about marketing overload.
Plus the original toys were so much better build quality and design. The new plastic ones… crap. IMO
Oh for crying out loud…

People just can keep well enough alone.
Yeah, the cel shaded CG Transformers series episodes are whipped out pretty quick for the kiddies. Lots of talking heads and very rudimentary animation.
Re: Animated Transformers
Oh God that is just plain AWFUL!
Even the ThunderCats make-over isn’t that bad! They’re going with that sort of look that made “urban vinyl” collectible figures popular and I don’t think it works with the Transformers.
