Came across a link to this blog from an action figure forum.? The text is in Japanese but the photos tell it all.?
This hobbyist customized Cloud and Tifa from the Final Fantasy: Advent Children CG film so they’d be more movie accurate.?? You can see the huge difference in likenesses between the production figures and the customized ones from the photos on his page.? The production likeness photo is in the lower right corner.
?
He modified the Fenrir motorcycle so that it could deploy Cloud’s swords as seen in the movie and he even scratchbuilt all of Cloud’s swords!? They can even be assembled into different blade configurations too!? The amount of work and painstaking attention to detail is really quite amazing!
I’ve heard that?his customs are going for hundreds of U.S. dollars on eBay.

Maybe now Square will take some cues from this guy and release a nice PVC set, or something. I really like the sword though. It’s keen.
Some customizers either get the look right, or the function right but not always both. This looks good AND it works!
I think this is how Square should have designed the Cloud/Fenrir box set in the first place. The Cloud figure included in the box set is the same version that’s sold separately, so I think they should have done something special for the box set and really amped up the accessories.
Yeah, there it seems like that just sort of put out the figures as an after thought, instead of as an awesome main place idea. They could have at least handed the PVC design off the someone like Max Factory.
Who did the figure design and production, anyway?
The production was handled by Play Arts. Cloud was sculpted by Tetsuya Nomura, and Fenrir by Takayuki Takeya.
FYI:? Apparently the early production run Clouds figures had completely different, poorer face sculpts.? The one in the U.S. version box set contains the newly improved face sculpt.??The individually packaged Clouds are now also using the new face sculpts.
One still has to be careful and examine the figure carefully before putting down the cash to ensure they get the newer, improved version.

I’ll say. They aren’t selling those things for cheap at the store I was at in the US. (The Cloud/Fenrir) I think they wanted like.. $180 for it. Not sure if they are still pushing that much though.
Wow, $180?! Talk about sticker shock. I didn’t know it would be that expensive. A local shop here was carrying it for $69.99 Cdn.
Jeez! Talk about a ripoff. But I guess that’s what happens when a non-figure store carries figures because it’s tied to a game.
I honestly don’t know what they’re thinking asking that much for it. It’s not going for that much even on eBay and eBay’s the land of the excessive mark-up.
Highest it’s going for at the moment is $83USD on eBay and there are plenty of other auctions selling it cheaper.
It was a pre-order when I saw it. Maybe it came down. Haha. Still weird they the shop was even doing figure orders though.
